• A Candle

It has been over two months since I last made an update for Ad Astra. I love the blogs where you can see what is going on every day / week with folks, all of their hikes, sails, photos and adventures. But I knew that would not be the blog that I kept for Ad Astra. For one, my interests change constantly and if I set myself up with a scheduled blog update then I would fear that it come to feel like some sort of work.
  • Goodbye Grenada, thanks for all the good times

Pre-sail checks: Engine oils: STBD: full PORT: full Fuel tanks (132 gallons each): STBD 75% PORT 75% Water tanks (92 gallons each): STBD 0% PORT 100% Weather: checked passageweather.com and they are showing a bit more wind on the nose than windytv. The waves will be about 1.5m. Looking forward to a close reach to Carricacou. EDIT: December 8th, 2016 The wind turned out to be 20° more to the North and it was simply an engine drive to Sandy Island, Carriacou.

Ad Astra’s Log Wednesday November 23rd, 2016 Sandy Island, Carriacou 12°29.1’N, 61°28.9’W Crew: Erik, Kaiwen, Kyle, Max and Sue-quei. Everyone is healthy and happy, except Sue-quei has developed some sort of rash on the palms of her hands. We are trying anti-bacterial and anti-fungals, as well as keeping them dry and getting some UV on the hands. Ad Astra: All major systems operating well: diesel engines are running fine and both fuel tanks have over 7/8ths of tank, water maker is happily keeping the tanks full, but Kyle needs to replace the 5 and 20 micron filters tomorrow.
